MORF Winter Meeting - 6 pm Saturday March 4 Columbia Yacht Club

12:48 2/11/2017

Dear MORF Racer,

The MORF Winter meeting will be held at the Columbia Yacht Club On Saturday March 4. All members, family, and crew are invited. Dinner and drinks on your major credit card begins at 6pm, followed by a brief business meeting at 7pm, and a presentation by Sally Barkow Volvo Ocean racing sailor and current World Match Racing skipper. Sally also heads the Majenta Project which promotes woman in competitive sailing. She'll speak about her racing experiences in what is planned to be an interactive presentation. Please RSVP, space on the Columbia upper salon is limited to 80. Particularly let us know by Feb 25 if you are planning to have dinner so we can warn the kitchen and keep the food flowing. MORF would greatly appreciate you having paid your 2017 membership by, or at, the winter meeting (more below).

The MORF Board, at its February meeting, approved the 2017 racing schedule now on the web. Sprint regatta details (start times and areas) may evolve. The dates and pattern of races are fixed. There are some changes, but many fewer than in the rest of the Chicago racing scene. There is also an update the MORF measurement rules to better match LMPHRF. These will all be discussed in the business meeting.

The 2017 membership renewal forms have been emailed out; please let us know if you didn't get yours. We need the signed form and payment. You can accomplish this in any of several ways thanks to Mike Ciechanowski, this years Treasurer, who has setup a MORF PayPal account. You can:

- Sign the form and mail it back with a check to the address on the form, as we have done for years - Request a PayPal invoice by emailing Mike ( and pay with PayPal or a credit card - this is an electronic signature of the form. - Walk the form into the Winter meeting and pay by check, credit card, or PayPal.

Hopefully we should have this better integrated by next season.

The winter hibernation is nearly over - start thinking about the 2017 season!
